Cruising Chauffeur

Long drives on the highway become more relaxing.

Long drives on the highway become more relaxing. Once activated, the Cruising Chauffeur function of the vehicle takes over from the driver and cruises along the highway adjusting its speed to traffic conditions and regulations. The vehicle stays safely in the lane.

Information provided by our electronic Horizon (eHorizon) and the Backend (in the Cloud) enhance the smoothness of the journey. The driver does not have to take over again until exiting the highway – which the vehicle announces ahead of time.

Automated Driving – development around the world in USA, Japan, China and Germany

  • China

Traffic in China is multiple and dense and can therefore be a challenge at times. Being able to sit back and relax while the car takes over, however, can be an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
Our engineers in China are therefore already testing and developing functions for their local market. Using the latest camera and radar technologies they have been mapping typical environments and traffic scenarios in China, in order to train the car to react smoothly while performing automated driving scenarios.

  • Germany

Driving at high speeds on Germany’s autobahns is a common phenomenon and quite a challenge for any technology if a car is to cruise along in an automated state. Being able to sit back and relax while the car takes over the driving for you, however, can be an exciting experience.
Engineers based in Germany have therefore been testing and developing functions typical for their country. Using the latest camera and radar technologies they have been mapping typical environments in Germany, in order to train the car to react in the correct way during automated driving scenarios.

  • United States of America

Cruising down the highway on a long journey can be tiresome in the US. Being able to sit back and relax while the car takes over the driving for you can, however, be an exciting experience.
That is why our US-engineers have been testing and developing functions in the US. Using the latest camera and radar technologies to map typical US environments to train the car to react in the correct way during automated driving scenarios.

  • Japan

Driving down the highways of Japan on can be a challenge with all the dense traffic. Being able to sit back and relax while the car takes over, however, can be an enjoyable and relaxing experience.
That is why our engineers in Japan have been testing and developing functions for their market, locally. Using the latest camera and radar technologies they have been mapping typical environments and traffic scenarios in Japan, in order to train the car to react smoothly while performing automated driving scenarios.
