Our ADAS Solutions Across SAE Levels
Our systems expertise spans across multiple SAE Levels, each offering increasing degrees of driver support and autonomy. Our capabilities by these levels are as follows:
- SAE Level 1: Driver Assistance
At SAE Level 1, the vehicle assists the driver with either steering or acceleration/deceleration, but not both simultaneously. The driver must remain engaged and responsible for all other driving functions.
Key Features in Our Level 1 ADAS:
- Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): This system automatically adjusts the vehicle’s speed to maintain a safe following distance from other vehicles. It’s ideal for long-haul trucks on highways, reducing driver fatigue by managing speed in heavy traffic.
- Lane Keeping Assist (LKA): Helps drivers stay in their lane by gently correcting the steering if the vehicle begins to drift. This is especially useful for buses on long city routes where lane adherence is critical.
While the driver remains fully responsible, these systems provide valuable assistance in specific scenarios, making it easier and safer to operate heavy vehicles.
- SAE Level 2: Partial Automation
At Level 2, the vehicle can control both steering and acceleration/deceleration simultaneously, but the driver must continue to monitor the driving environment and be prepared to take control at any moment.
Key Features in Our Level 2 ADAS:
- Combined Adaptive Cruise Control & Lane Keeping: Our integrated system allows trucks and buses to maintain both speed and lane position automatically, making highway driving less stressful for operators. This feature is particularly beneficial for long-distance trucking, where hours of uninterrupted highway driving can lead to fatigue.
- Traffic Jam Assist: When in heavy traffic, the vehicle can autonomously handle stop-and-go situations, reducing driver workload during congested conditions.
These features significantly reduce the driver’s workload and improve safety by ensuring that the vehicle operates within safe parameters, but the driver still needs to remain engaged.
- SAE Level 3: Conditional Automation
At SAE Level 3, the vehicle takes over all aspects of driving under certain conditions, such as highway cruising or low-speed traffic, but requires the driver to be available to take over when the system requests.
Key Features in Our Level 3 ADAS:
- This system allows the vehicle to handle all aspects of driving on highways, including lane changes, acceleration, and braking. The driver can momentarily disengage from driving tasks, although they must be ready to intervene if required.
This level represents a significant leap forward, particularly for commercial vehicles, as it allows for more autonomous operation under specific conditions, reducing driver fatigue and improving safety.
- SAE Level 4: High Automation
At Level 4, the vehicle is capable of performing all driving tasks autonomously within defined environments, such as specific routes or geofenced areas, without requiring any human intervention. The driver can fully disengage during these operations.
Key Features in Our Level 4 ADAS:
At SAE Level 4, our autonomous trucking solutions enable fully autonomous control of the vehicle in defined environments, such as specific highway segments or logistics centers. The truck can handle all driving tasks, including acceleration, braking, and lane changes, without the need for human intervention. This significantly reduces the driver’s workload and increases safety by ensuring precise and continuous vehicle control, even in complex traffic situations.
Level 4 ADAS are a game-changer for logistics and public transportation, offering significant cost savings, increased efficiency, and enhanced safety.
- SAE Level 5: Full Automation
Level 5 represents the pinnacle of vehicle autonomy, where no human intervention is required at any time or under any driving condition. Trucks and buses would be capable of navigating urban streets, highways, and even complex traffic situations without the need for a driver.
