Cost-optimized Braking System
The three main components that make up the cost-optimized braking system are the single-cylinder compact Electrical Vacuum Pump (EVP X3), Single Booster actuation brake unit and the MK 120 electronic brake system. These independent solutions are consolidated into a single solution that makes for a cost-optimized, simple and efficient brake system appropriate specially for electric vehicles.
The EVP X3 maintains a high level of permanent and ever-available vacuum in the booster while driving, with remarkable constant performance over the lifetime of the vehicle. It also features the capability of offering continuous operation with low friction that results in low heating.
The vacuum generated by the EVP X3 is stored in the booster, and application of the brake pedal leads to brake pressure build up by the vacuum booster. The single booster actuation brake unit features outstanding technology that amplifies the brake demand of the driver into convincing braking performance of the car. The design of the booster has been optimized to ensure a combination of compact layout with lightweight technology, while also making it attractive and affordable for customers.
The MK 120® is a new-generation electronic brake system for Electronic Stability Control Systems (ESC), which features scalable hydraulic performance for autonomous emergency braking. Once the brake pedal is applied, the pressure modulation of the ESC unit leads to braking power passing on to the calipers and causing it to stop. Its compact dimensions, capability towards both vacuum and electric brake boosters, and regenerative braking function make it a great fit for electric vehicle applications.
