Acceleration Satellite gSAT
Proven system – robust technology. The fully scalable sensor system is based on acceleration satellites (gSAT). Compact sensors concealed in the bumper send a signal to the SPEED control unit when a collision occurs. The control unit can then raise the hood in a matter of milliseconds, creating a deeper crumple zone that prevents the pedestrian‘s head from hitting the engine block, dramatically reducing injury. Development and validation activities for the gSAT based system are conducted exclusively in-house, ensuring optimized interfaces and consistent quality standards. The acceleration-based pedestrian protection system can be
enhanced by combining with pressure-based technology (PPS
pSAT).
