Interaction Concept

A Holistic Human-Machine Interface: the driver takes back the driving task.

Even while driving in an Automated Driving mode, it can happen, that the driver has to take the driving task back. Therefore Continental develops a specific interaction concept between the driver and the vehicle that helps the driver to take the control back fast.

This interaction concept is based on our Holistic Human-Machine Interface (HMI) principle. This is to make the understanding of information and the reaction to it as easy and intuitive as possible for the driver. Information is collected and presented in a focused and clear way. The flow of information is prioritized, by taking the driving situation and the driver's condition into account. Only the relevant information and appropriate actions are offered in the respective situation.

In addition, the driver receives reliable confirmation for every action that he initiates. This strengthens the trust in the vehicle’s individual functions.
