We are partnering the Autonomous Mobility Project RealLabHH

Continental is currently working on the Reallabor Hamburg (RealLabHH) project, which is focused on making the mobility of tomorrow a reality with a large trial operation of autonomous shuttles (eMoin) in one of Germany’s largest cities.

RealLabHH is a pilot project that benefits from the company’s united Automotive Technologies strength. The research project funded by the German Bundesministerium für Verkehr und digitale Infrastruktur (BMVI) with a total of around 20.5 million euros. The "Real Lab Digital Mobility" is based on the initiative of the National Platform Future of Mobility (NPM). The project's goal is a digitally supported infrastructure that makes traffic safer, more comfortable and more climate friendly.

Autonomous Driving is the future of mobility and is a highly discussed topic in the industry. However, while the benefits of vehicles operating autonomously are clear to experts – making traffic safer and more efficient – there are also concerns in society on their safety. However, Autonomous Driving still seems like a futuristic concept for many, especially since several new mobility concepts are being devised, but largely remain in the idea and concept phase. The interdisciplinary RealLabHH project sees innovative technologies on track to be put on the road and tested in real conditions. From August this year, until the start of the ITS World Congress in October, three autonomous eMoin shuttles will be tested as a flexible part of the public transport system in Bergedorf, a suburb of Hamburg.

Stay tuned, more information will follow.
