Static eHorizon – predictive control of vehicle systems
eHorizon integrates topographical and digital map data with sensor data, namely GPS receivers, for predictive control of vehicle systems. Future events, such as the uphill incline after the next corner, are exploited at an early stage in order to optimize the vehicle's response. eHorizon interprets map and sensor data and automatically adapts the engine and transmission management.
Connected eHorizon – more up-to-date maps with more details
In the future, eHorizon will be able to save location-related vehicle data and transfer it to a cloud. Here, the data from all vehicles is collated and made available for map updates. This allows more up-to-date and detailed information to be added to a digital map, and information can also be generated for routes that previously had incomplete map data.
Dynamic eHorizon – integrating current events in real time
A further step in the development of the eHorizon is permanent connectivity with the cloud. The "dynamic eHorizon" receives updates based on data from other vehicles' sensors and from other sources in real time. This enables eHorizon to factor in dynamic changes to the route such as traffic jams, accidents, weather conditions, and other relevant information.
